This week's homework is up. So is the most recent Ask Your Child About... I apologize for being remiss in the upkeep of the website. Trying my best to keep up with everything. Please keep in mind that while the website is for everyone's convenience, all of the homework is always given out to the students in class. Students are expected to write down their spelling words in their study packet and keep it in their blue folder. If your child is missing his/her study sheet, feel free to download the cumulative spelling list and have your child ask me for a new study sheet.

This week's homework is up. I apologize for being late with it and not having it up in recent weeks. Just an FYI about tonight's homework. I never received this week's Time For Kids, so they're getting a well-deserved break tonight.
Yesterday and today were DC-BAS testing. They made it through, they all worked hard, and they all should be proud of their effort!
Tomorrow morning we're having a special Writer's Workshop session to make up for some that we've missed. We're writing about "courage." Please encourage your child to think about what courage means to them. I'm excited about these essays and plan to submit them to the Larry Neal writing contest.
Our Tourmobile field trip has been postponed due to the weather. I'm still waiting to hear the new date. If you haven't sent in a field trip permission form, please do!

Students in our class have written articles for our blog! Read on!
What’s Happening at Lafayette
The Winter Dance The Winter dance is for third through six graders to have fun. It takes place in the cafeteria. It’s on March 6, after school at 3:30. The theme this year is pajamas, so wear them!
The D.C Theater Cafe The D.C Theater Cafe is a cafe that the third graders host. The pre-k through six graders go, and parents can go, too. It takes place in the cafeteria. It is on April 28 and 29, all day. The theme is how Washington, D.C., has changed through the centuries. The third graders will be serving food.

THE LAFAYETTE AUCTION My name is Zola Canady, a 3rd grader, and I’m here to tell you about the Lafayette Auction. The Lafayette Auction comes once a year where the kids at Lafayette sell their art. This year in 2009 the 3rd graders in Mrs.Yedwab’s class painted apples. Mrs.Gootman and Mrs.Dolge, who are both Lafayette moms, helped the 3rd graders with their painting. The Lafayette Auction will take place on March 7th, and all Lafayette parents can come. They are encouraged to bid for some art. It’s like a regular auction and you just bid for some art as well as many other things. It would be even cooler if you have a kid who made a painting and bid for it! So get your tickets today!
